Megumi Tanno
Megumi Tanno is als een van de weinige Japanse fortepianisten actief als soliste en in de kamermuziek. Haar internationale carrière bracht haar naar prestigieuze internationale concoursen als het Musica Antiqua festival van Brugge (2007, Eervolle Vermelding), de John Kerr Award (UK, 2008, begeleidingsprijs met Angelique Pourreyron), het Van Wassenaer Concours Amsterdam (NL, 2009, Eerste Prijs), de Clementi Award (UK, 2011, met Antonio Piricone als “Tempo Rubato”, fortepiano duo), en de Westfield Fortepiano Competition (USA, 2012, semifinale).
Zij is tevens uitgenodigd voor optredens bij verscheidene internationale festivals van oude muziek: Het Festival voor Oude Muziek te Utrecht (randprogrammering 2003-2007, hoofdconcert 2011), het International Early Music Festival Barcelona (ES) in 2004, the International Early Music Festival “Hokutopia” (JP) met Elizabeth Dobbin (sopraan) in 2007 en met Antonio Piricone (fortepiano) in 2008.
“Tempo Rubato” was te beluisteren op Radio 4 en werd interviewd door Vrije Geluiden. Tevens verzorgden zij een live opname in het Concertgebouw Amsterdam.
Megumi Tanno behaalde de graad van Bachelor in de musicologie aan de Nationale Universiteit voor Schone Kunsten en Muziek te Tokyo (Tokyo-Geidai) bij Eizaburo Tsuchida. Vervolgens studeerde zij aan de Afdeling Oude Muziek van het Koninklijk Conservatorium te ‘s-Gravenhage, bij Bart van Oort vanaf 2001 en Stanley Hoogland vanaf 2004, en behaalde haar Master in fortepiano in 2007. Sinds 2011 wordt Megumi gecoacht door Sally Sargent in Wenen.
Ms. Tanno is one of a few Japanese fortepianists who is active as a solo pianist and a chamber musician. She has gained international career as taking part in renown international competitions; Honorable Mention at the Brugge International Early Music Competition (BE, 2007), the Accompanist Prize at the John Kerr Award (UK, 2008) with Angelique Pourreyron, the first Prize at the Van Wassenaer Concours Amsterdam (NL, 2009), the Clementi Award (UK, 2011) with Antonio Piricone as “Tempo Rubato” (fortepiano duet), and the Westfield Fortepiano Competition as semi-finalist (USA, 2012).
She has also been invited to perform at several international early music festivals; fringe concerts (2003-2007) and main concert (2011) at the International Early Music Festival Utrecht (NL), the International Early Music Festival Barcelone (ES) in 2004, the International Early Music Festival “Hokutopia” (JP) with Elizabeth Dobbin (soprano) in 2007 and with Antonio Piricone (fortepiano) in 2008. “Tempo Rubato” was broadcasted on Radio 4 and interviewed at Vrije Geluiden. Also they gave a live recording at Concertgebouw Amsterdam.
She got bachelor degree of musicology at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music (Tokyo-Geidai) in 2001 under the guidance of Eizaburo Tsuchida. She enrolled to the Early Music Department at the Royal Conservatory The Hague in The Netherlands, coached by Bart van Oort from 2001 and Stanley Hoogland from 2004, and received Master’s degree of fortepiano in 2007. Since 2011 Megumi is under the guidance of Sally Sargent in Vienna.
